Get to know me

Hi, I'm Marketa

I’ve been many “things” in my life so far—digital nomad, community facilitator, destination scout, professional tour guide, English teacher, camp cook, sailor and wreck diver, Workawayer, climber, lazy runner, hiker, biker, self-proclaimed beer connoisseur, book lover (and hoarder), and DIY enthusiast (at least I can always build more shelves, right?).

But more than anything, I’ve been a curious learner and traveler. These two passions have shaped my life, career choices, relationships, and, well... my travels.

Since you’ve stumbled onto these pages, you’re probably looking for advice on learning a foreign language and taking an active, curious approach.

That’s exactly how I see language learning: proactively and with curiosity.

This blog is part journal, part experimental lab—a stash of creative, immersive, sometimes wacky, but always fun and effective ways to learn languages.

Most of all, this is a journey—mine and yours.

I’m here to draw on my experiences as a life-long student, English teacher, language nerd, self-starter, traveler, wannabe polyglot, digital nomad, and explorer.

Whether you’re just starting out (or starting again), dusting off those rusty, creaky, mummified language skills, or aiming for fluency and eternal glory, I’m here to help.

Or maybe you’re simply looking to live and practice your love for a language—like you would with yoga or minimalism—and occasionally brag about it while watching a Netflix show. If so, I got you.
